To Be: Inspired - Episode #1

“Voice of Reason”

A series sponsored by and filmed exclusively in the National Center for Civil and Human Rights.

A series crafted in-house by Tyla Harris, our Founder.

Inspired by the installations on view at the National Center for Civil and Human Rights, the series highlights moments in history, artists who inspired civil movements, and the artistry that connects us all.

Episode one, “Voice of Reason”, is inspired by the Sit-In Installation: an immersive, interactive experience allowing listeners to hear simulated sounds of the Lunch Counter protests. Also, rules stated in the video are directly taken from the “Nonviolent Protests” installation wall, featuring real training points for activists taught by CORE: the Congress of Racial Equality.

Research Points to Consider if Inspired by the Work:

  • The Bennett Belles

  • The SCLC, CORE, and NAACP

  • The “Freedom Riders”
